Based in Alicante City our friendly and professional English and Spanish team can help you with the following paperwork issues:
** (If you wish please scroll down to the end of this page to fill out a short enquiry form or contact us with any specific enquiries)
NIE Number: This is an identification number for foreign citizens. It is necessary if you wish to purchase a house, a car, etc. You should obtain this number if you are only going to be in the country for up to 90 days per year.
Residency Certificate: European citizens who are residing in Spain no longer receive a resident’s card (picture ID), instead it is now a residency certificate (green A4 paper) and you need this if you reside in Spain for more than 90 days per year.
Social Security Number: The Spanish social security system is much like the British one: you pay your contributions every month, and that entitles you to a pension, unemployment benefit, sick pay, maternity pay and the right to receive free healthcare. The amount of pension or benefit you receive depends on the level of contributions you have been paying. You must obtain this number in order to work in Spain and to apply for your NHS health card; it is also needed for any paperwork relating to your work history.
Pension Application: If you are residing in Spain you need to apply for your pension through Spain regardless of where the pension is coming from (i.e. the UK).
Birth Certificate Assistance: Administration and liaison with the appropriate local authorities to enable you to register the birth of your baby.
Registering at the Tax Office: In order to enable you to pay or receive any sort of taxes here in Spain (buying a car, yearly tax declaration, importing a car, self employment, benefits and maternity grants), you need to first be registered at the tax office.
Opening a bank account: If you are opening a bank account and require assistance with translating or any of the process involved, Alicante Office can help. We work very closely with several leading banks in the Alicante area.

Change of EU Plates: If you are resident (have a home, children in School, self employed – basically live here) and have brought your car over from another European country you are only allowed to drive the car here for a period of 30 days before changing the car registration plates. If you are non resident you have 183 days starting from the day you enter Spain.
Transfer of ownership on Spanish vehicle: When buying a Spanish vehicle you will have to pay a 4% transmission tax (based on today’s value) in addition to the administration fees. The vehicle’s paperwork must be transferred into the new owner’s name. * NOTE Do not sell the car without insuring that it has been registered in to the new owner’s name, as you will be liable for the vehicle, including the yearly road tax & fines.
Vehicle Insurance: Just like anywhere else in the EU you must have valid insurance for any vehicle on Spanish roads. We can help you obtain a quote!
ITV/MOT assistance: All cars over 4 years old need to pass an ITV/MOT and display the relevant ITV/MOT sticker on the car windscreen.
Medical check assistance for Spanish driving licence: When renewing a driver’s licence you have to pass a medical check, we can help you with the administration involved and can assist you translating on the day if necessary.
